Lucknow, Dec16: The Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), a BJP ally in Uttar Pradesh, has relaunched its nearly defunct wing, the Rashtriya Suheldev Sena, as part of efforts to expand its organisational base ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, party leaders said.
The Rashtriya Suheldev Sena will comprise young “foot soldiers” in the 18–25 age group and is being projected by the party as a “non-political” platform aimed at grassroots mobilisation and youth engagement.
Party leaders said the volunteers would be trained in the SBSP’s ideology and also provided guidance for jobs and careers. As part of the organisational structure, district-wise “commanders” will be appointed, with a target of inducting 30 to 40 volunteers in every village across the state.
Apart from organisational work, the volunteers will also be deployed to manage crowds during public rallies and other party events, the leaders said.
The party recently held its first training programme for around 2,000 volunteers in Azamgarh, with participants drawn from various districts of the Azamgarh division. The next phase of training is planned in Varanasi for volunteers from districts falling under the Varanasi division, they added.
To support the young recruits, particularly those from deprived sections, the SBSP plans to rope in retired professionals, including doctors, engineers, bureaucrats and police officers, to mentor them and help them acquire professional skills and improve employability.
The party aims to assist a sizeable number of these volunteers in entering different services while ensuring their continued association with the SBSP’s ideology. The training will also include awareness about reservation within reservation, its relevance, and the state’s cultural and historical legacy, including figures such as Raja Suheldev.
SBSP leaders said many youths in rural areas lack proper guidance and are largely focused on seeking entry into the Army, underlining the need for broader career counselling and support.
At present, the SBSP has six MLAs in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly but hopes to contest a larger number of seats in the 2027 polls. The move is also seen as an attempt to strengthen the party’s OBC support base, particularly in eastern Uttar Pradesh, amid the BJP’s outreach to OBC voters.
Party leaders said the decision to contest the Bihar polls separately was part of a broader strategy to widen the SBSP’s footprint and improve its bargaining position with its ruling ally ahead of the next Assembly elections.
