From red carpet to drive-thru: Michael B. Jordan marks Oscar win with burger stop

Los Angeles, 17 March: Michael B Jordan celebrated his Best Actor win at the Academy Awards in an unexpectedly down-to-earth fashion, swapping post-ceremony glamour for a late-night stop at In-N-Out Burger.

Fresh from the stage, where he was honoured for his performance in Sinners, Jordan arrived at the popular fast-food outlet still dressed in his black red-carpet suit, with his Oscar statuette placed casually on the table beside him. The moment quickly drew crowds, with photographers and fans gathering outside, turning the quiet visit into a lively spectacle.

Observers noted that the actor appeared to opt for a “3×3 burger,” a hefty order featuring three beef patties and three slices of cheese — a fitting indulgence after the lengthy awards ceremony.

The 98th edition of the Oscars was held at the Dolby Theatre and hosted by Conan O’Brien, celebrating the best films of the past year.

A Familiar Hollywood Ritual

Jordan’s post-win outing reflects a long-standing Hollywood habit of turning to comfort food after the high-profile event. Over the years, stars such as Hilary Swank, Julia Roberts, and Jamie Lee Curtis have all made similar late-night fast-food stops.

The connection between the Oscars and burgers runs deeper, with Vanity Fair famously serving In-N-Out items at its annual afterparty for decades, blending Hollywood prestige with everyday comfort.

Moments That Stick

Past instances have added to the charm of this tradition. In 2005, Swank reportedly visited Astro Burger shortly after her win, prompting applause from diners as she raised her Oscar in celebration. More recently, filmmaker Steven Spielberg and models Emily Ratajkowski and Adwoa Aboah were seen embracing the same post-ceremony ritual.

Jordan’s visit, blending cinematic triumph with an unpretentious meal, has since emerged as one of the most talked-about off-stage moments of the night — a reminder that even Hollywood’s biggest stars sometimes prefer burgers over banquets.
