Vaishali, Aug 23: In an unusual display of devotion, RJD leader and social worker Kedar Prasad Yadav performed a milk abhishek of former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav’s photograph using around 251 kg of milk at Bhagwanpur in Vaishali district, describing the RJD supremo as an incarnation of Lord Krishna and a divine figure.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Acharya Pandit Abhay and included prayers, Vedic chants and rituals. Lalu Yadav’s photograph was decorated with flowers before the milk was poured over it as part of the ceremony.
Kedar Yadav compared Lalu Prasad Yadav with Lord Krishna, saying that while Krishna protected Mathura during the Dwapar Yuga, Lalu was protecting Bihar in the Kaliyuga.
“Lalu Prasad Yadav is an incarnation of Lord Krishna,” Kedar Yadav said.
“Just as Lord Krishna protected Mathura in the Dwapar Yuga, Lalu Yadav is protecting Bihar today in the Kaliyuga,” he said.
Explaining the ritual, Kedar said, “For us, Lalu Prasad Yadav is truly a form of God, so we are worshipping his picture by pouring milk on it.”
He also credited Lalu Yadav with raising the voice of poor, exploited and backward sections and working to bring them into the mainstream.
“Lalu Yadav worked to connect the oppressed with the mainstream of society,” Kedar said, adding that Lalu had fought for the rights of disadvantaged sections.
A large number of local RJD workers and supporters attended the programme and raised slogans in support of Lalu Yadav. The event also served as an expression of political allegiance to the RJD leader and his social justice agenda.
RJD workers said they would continue to uphold Lalu Yadav’s ideas and carry forward his fight for social justice. Similar programmes dedicated to Lalu Yadav have also been organised by his supporters in Bhagwanpur in the past, according to organisers.
