Ranchi: To ensure smooth and uninterrupted travel during the monsoon season, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched a special campaign to clean, repair, and strengthen drainage systems along major national highways in Jharkhand.

Under the initiative, NHAI teams have started extensive drainage maintenance and road upkeep work on key highway stretches, including Ranchi–Ramgarh, Ranchi–Jamshedpur, and Ranchi–Daltonganj routes, along with several other important national highways across the state.

Officials said the objective of the drive is to prevent waterlogging, improve rainwater flow, and protect road infrastructure from monsoon-related damage. Special attention is being given to cleaning clogged drains, repairing damaged sections, and ensuring the proper functioning of drainage networks.

The authority believes that improved drainage arrangements will help maintain traffic flow and reduce disruptions caused by heavy rainfall. With the monsoon expected to intensify in the coming weeks, the campaign aims to enhance road safety and provide hassle-free travel for commuters across Jharkhand.

NHAI has directed field teams to complete the work on priority and monitor vulnerable stretches regularly throughout the rainy season.

The initiative aims to keep highways free from water accumulation and minimize disruptions during periods of heavy rainfall.

NHAI officials have also identified waterlogging-prone stretches and other vulnerable locations along key highway corridors. These areas are being closely monitored, and preventive measures are being implemented to address potential issues before they affect traffic flow.

The primary objective of the campaign is to ensure safe and hassle-free travel for commuters throughout the rainy season. Alongside drainage improvement works, road safety measures are also being strengthened on various routes to enhance commuter safety.
