Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday conducted a high-level review of the Planning and Development Department at the Jharkhand secretariat and directed officials to expedite the implementation of various government schemes, budgetary provisions and development projects across the state.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for regular monitoring of schemes and continuous tracking of their progress at the grassroots level. He instructed officials to ensure effective coordination with all state government departments so that schemes and projects planned for the current and upcoming financial years are completed within stipulated timelines. Stressing the importance of efficient governance, Soren called upon officials to work with commitment and sensitivity to accelerate Jharkhand’s overall development.

A key focus of the review was the promotion of innovative schemes. Officials informed the Chief Minister that the allocation for innovative projects has been increased from ₹2 crore to ₹5 crore. They also apprised him of an action plan prepared for selecting projects under the ‘One District, One Project’ initiative, aimed at promoting region-specific development.

The meeting also discussed the performance of existing schemes. Suggestions were made to review programmes that have been running for more than five years to assess their effectiveness and explore possibilities for improvement or closure. Officials further deliberated on establishing a Project Management Unit (PMU) to monitor and support Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS).

Departments with expenditure below 60 per cent in 2025-26 were reviewed, and officials were asked to improve performance. Discussions were also held on preparing a vision document for the next ten years to guide the state’s long-term development strategy.

Planning and Development Minister Radha Krishna Kishore, Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Development Commissioner Ajay Kumar Singh and other senior officials attended the meeting.
