CISF seizes truck carrying 10.18 tonnes of suspected illegal coal in Jharkhand

Ranchi, July 7: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has seized a heavy vehicle allegedly transporting 10.18 tonnes of illegally concealed coal during a late-night inspection in Jharkhand’s Piparwar area.

The truck and the recovered coal have been handed over to the local police for further investigation and legal action.The seizure was made as part of the CISF’s ongoing drive against coal theft and illegal transportation.

The operation took place at around 2 a.m. on July 6 at the New Check Post near D Company in the Piparwar mining region.According to officials, the truck bearing registration number OD35G-9442 was returning after completing its scheduled coal transportation from the Amrapali Project.

Although the vehicle was expected to be empty, officials on duty became suspicious and conducted a detailed inspection.During the search, CISF personnel discovered approximately 10.18 tonnes of coal allegedly hidden inside the vehicle.

Preliminary information indicated that the truck is associated with JTPL Transport Company.Following the recovery, the vehicle was immediately taken into CISF custody and senior officials were informed.

Acting on the directions of Commandant Amit Kumar, CISF officers and personnel reached the spot, secured the vehicle, and initiated the required legal procedures.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commandant Dinesh Kumar and Assistant Commandant Harsh Lavania, along with other CISF officials and security personnel.

The seized truck and the recovered coal have been handed over to the Piparwar (Bachra) Police Station for registration of a case and further investigation under the relevant legal provisions.

Officials said the action is part of the CISF’s sustained efforts to prevent coal theft and curb illegal transportation in the coal mining belt of Jharkhand. Further investigation is underway to determine the source and intended destination of the recovered coal.
