Ranchi, July 9: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday outlined an ambitious roadmap to transform the state into a hub for innovation, research and technology, asserting that Jharkhand’s future lies not only in its mineral wealth but also in the strength of its human capital and knowledge economy.
Addressing the concluding session of the National Stakeholders Consultation in New Delhi, Soren said the government is committed to creating an ecosystem that encourages research, technological innovation and sustainable development.
He invited research institutions, technology companies and investors to partner with the state in building a future-ready economy.Presenting the government’s long-term development vision, the Chief Minister said Jharkhand aims to emerge as a centre for artificial intelligence, digital governance and innovation-led growth.
He stressed that sustained collaboration between the government, industry and academia would be key to achieving these goals.
A major outcome of the consultation was the signing of 14 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with leading business groups and organisations from sectors including technology, manufacturing, tourism and infrastructure.
The agreements are expected to support investment, skill development, digital transformation and employment generation across the state.
Draft policy proposals from several departments were also discussed during the event.Describing the MoUs as milestones rather than routine agreements, Soren said they reflect the government’s commitment to creating new opportunities for economic growth and improving public services through innovation.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to ensure that projects arising from the agreements are implemented within fixed timelines, emphasising that development initiatives must deliver tangible benefits to people on the ground.
Highlighting inclusive growth, Soren called for greater participation of tribal communities in the state’s industrial development.
He asked officials to examine the possibility of increasing concessions available to tribal entrepreneurs under the Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority (JIADA) framework, saying the state’s indigenous communities should play a central role in its economic progress.
Soren acknowledged that Jharkhand’s investment potential had not been effectively communicated in the past and said the government would strengthen engagement with domestic and international investors to showcase the state’s opportunities.
Concluding his address, the Chief Minister thanked industry leaders, policymakers, technology experts and investors for participating in the consultation and invited them to become long-term partners in Jharkhand’s development journey.
