Dehradun, Dec 13: The Uttarakhand government on Friday released a booklet highlighting its achievements on completion of four years in office, listing the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), anti-conversion law and amendments to land legislations among its key milestones.
The booklet, titled ‘Dhami Ki Dhamak – 4 Saal Bemisal’ (Dhami’s impact – four years of excellence), was released by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who said the state had made historic progress during his government’s tenure.
“In this successful four-year journey of development, Uttarakhand has achieved significant advancement in the economy, infrastructure, social harmony and cultural preservation,” Dhami said. He added that the government was working towards building a prosperous and self-reliant Uttarakhand with the participation of women, youth, ex-servicemen, statehood activists and non-resident Uttarakhandis.
According to the booklet, at least 100 government initiatives are expected to have a long-term impact on the state’s development, while 58 achievements have placed Uttarakhand among the leading states in the country.
Highlighting economic and employment outcomes, the booklet said government measures had led to a substantial increase in mining revenue and rapid industrial growth. It claimed that more than 26,000 youth had been provided government jobs and that the unemployment rate in the state had been brought down to 4.4 per cent.
The booklet also underlined the enactment of the anti-conversion law, introduction of an anti-cheating law and amendments to the state’s land laws. It said action was taken against “illegal” shrines, resulting in the freeing up of around 10,000 acres of land, and referred to steps taken against alleged “land jihad” and “love jihad”, along with the passage of the Uttarakhand Minority Education Bill.
Other initiatives highlighted include Operation Kalnemi against “fake” seers, the government’s handling of natural disasters, the Silkyara tunnel rescue operation and the development of the Manaskhand Temple Circuit, the booklet said.
