New Delhi, Aug 11: Posters carrying photographs of 19 wanted terrorists have been displayed at multiple locations across Delhi as security agencies step up surveillance ahead of Independence Day, police officials said.

The posters are part of the annual security exercise conducted before August 15 and are aimed at increasing public awareness and encouraging citizens to help authorities identify and report individuals wanted in terror-related cases, officials said.

Delhi has been placed on high alert ahead of the Independence Day celebrations. Security personnel are intensifying checks and surveillance at crowded markets, Metro stations, railway stations, bus terminals, transport hubs and other sensitive locations.

Security arrangements around the Red Fort, the main venue for the Independence Day celebrations, have also been strengthened. Multiple layers of security, including personnel deployment, surveillance technology and anti-drone measures, are being used to monitor the area.

Police and other security agencies are also maintaining heightened vigilance at government buildings and critical installations across the national capital.

Officials have appealed to the public to remain alert and immediately inform authorities if they notice any suspicious activity or individuals.
