Ranchi, July 19: In a proud moment for Jharkhand and the Santali-speaking community, filmmaker Ravi Raj Murmu has won the Best Debut Film Director award at the 72nd National Film Awards for his acclaimed Santali film “Angen”, bringing national recognition to the state’s rich indigenous culture and storytelling traditions.

Congratulating Murmu on the prestigious honour, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren described the award as a matter of immense pride for both the state and the Santali-speaking community.
The Chief Minister said Murmu’s achievement goes beyond individual recognition and represents a major milestone for Jharkhand’s cultural landscape. He noted that Angen has successfully brought the richness of the Santali language and traditions to a national audience, earning widespread acclaim.
