Major general Jitendra Singh takes charge as 10th GOC of Jharkhand and Bihar sub area

Patna, July 19: Major General Jitendra Singh (VSM) has assumed charge as the 10th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Jharkhand and Bihar Sub Area, taking over the command at Danapur on July 18, 2026. The Indian Army said his extensive operational experience and strategic leadership are expected to further strengthen the region’s military capabilities, administrative functions, and veterans’ welfare.

A recipient of the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM), Major General Singh is an alumnus of Sainik School, Rewa, and the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla. He was commissioned into the Corps of Engineers of the Indian Army and has served in a wide range of operational, strategic planning, and capability development appointments during his nearly three-decade-long military career.

The senior officer has commanded formations at various levels within the Army and has also served as the Deputy Managing Director of the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), where he made significant contributions towards the welfare of veterans and their dependents.

According to the Army, Major General Singh has specialized expertise in conflict management, conflict resolution, and strategic leadership, making him well-equipped to lead the Jharkhand and Bihar Sub Area.

«”His experience and leadership will further strengthen the operational capabilities, administrative functions, and veterans’ welfare in the Jharkhand and Bihar Sub Area,” the Army said.»

After assuming charge, Major General Singh called upon officers, Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), other ranks, and civilian staff to continue serving the nation with the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and dedication.

The Army expressed confidence that Major General Singh’s extensive experience, visionary leadership, and professional competence would provide fresh impetus to operational preparedness, administrative efficiency, and the welfare of ex-servicemen across the Jharkhand and Bihar Sub Area.
