New Delhi, September 5: BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi on Saturday stepped up his criticism of the Congress over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted in Jharkhand, questioning the security arrangements surrounding examination papers and the Opposition party’s response to the controversy.

Addressing a press conference, Trivedi alleged that question papers related to the Assistant Conservator of Forests and Forest Range Officer examinations were accessed from a strong room and subsequently tampered with.

He described the alleged incident as more serious than a conventional question-paper leak and sought accountability from those responsible for examination security.

Trivedi also questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the issue, alleging that political leaders who have previously raised concerns about examination irregularities were not responding with the same intensity to the developments in Jharkhand.

The BJP leader’s remarks come amid continuing controversy surrounding recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).

Student groups have been demanding greater transparency and action over alleged irregularities in the recruitment process. The Jharkhand Police Criminal Investigation Department has also been investigating the JSSC-CGL examination case, with the arrest of Sameer Kumar reported in connection with the probe.

The issue has also triggered protests in the state. Police had earlier registered cases following clashes during a demonstration in Ranchi, adding a law-and-order dimension to the ongoing dispute between student groups and the authorities.Meanwhile, judicial proceedings have added another layer to the controversy.

The Jharkhand High Court has stayed the state government’s decision to cancel the 11th and 13th JPSC examinations and associated appointments after newly appointed officers challenged the move.

Trivedi also used the press conference to criticise Congress-ruled states over women’s representation in ministerial positions. He contrasted the figures he cited with the policies and representation of women under the BJP-led Central government.

The BJP’s latest attack is likely to intensify the political debate over recruitment examinations in Jharkhand, with questions surrounding examination security, student protests, police action and the government’s handling of alleged irregularities remaining at the centre of the dispute.

The allegations raised by Trivedi are political claims and have not been independently established. Investigations and court proceedings into the various examination-related matters are continuing.
