Ranchi, July 8: The Jharkhand Congress on Wednesday dismissed the BJP’s allegations of revenue loss in the state, accusing the opposition party of attempting to create a sensation and derive political mileage by misrepresenting a routine audit exercise.
Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary and Media Department Coordinator Lal Kishore Nath Shahdev said the audit report cited by the BJP was part of a normal administrative process intended to improve governance and enhance transparency, and should not be portrayed as evidence of financial loss.
“The BJP’s allegations are an attempt to create sensation and gain political advantage. The audit report is part of a normal administrative process. Its purpose is to improve the system and bring transparency,” Shahdev said.
He alleged that the BJP was misleading the public by giving the audit findings a “false colour” of revenue loss, while asserting that the Hemant Soren-led coalition government functions transparently and strictly follows established rules.
Responding to the BJP’s demand for Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s resignation, Shahdev said the opposition should first introspect over financial irregularities flagged in Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports during its tenure at the Centre.
“If the audit report suggests any corrections, the department will take appropriate action,” he said, adding that the government takes audit observations and technical recommendations seriously.
Shahdev also said the government remains vigilant over technical deficiencies in liquor trade monitoring, hologram systems and GPS-based tracking, warning that any malpractice would not be tolerated.
Accusing the BJP of raising baseless issues to divert attention from development and public concerns, Shahdev reiterated that the coalition government was fully committed to protecting the state’s revenue and ensuring transparency in governance.
