Dhanbad, November 12: After chairing the monthly crime review meeting at Police Headquarters in the Collectorate premises, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhat Kumar has claimed that crime incidents in Dhanbad district have registered a decline in past October due to increased police vigilance.

According to data presented during the meeting on Tuesday evening, 602 cases were registered in October, while 705 cases were disposed of. This has brought down the number of pending cases from 2,492 to 2,385.

During the meeting, the SSP directed all police stations to reduce the pending figure below 2,000 by December-end.

To further strengthen law and order, the SSP also instructed officers to intensify vehicle checking drives, conduct surprise inspections of hotels and lodges, and increase police patrolling in sensitive areas. He said that additional security arrangements have been made in marketplaces, malls, and crowded places of the city.

Citing a recent robbery involving a trader at the agricultural market, the SSP expressed displeasure and ordered immediate arrests in the case, warning that any negligence in handling such incidents would not be tolerated.

On traffic management, the SSP directed strict enforcement of helmet rules and warned against violations such as fancy number plates, tinted glasses, modified silencers, triple riding, and misuse of “police” or “press” stickers. He also instructed the traffic wing to identify and remove abandoned vehicles from roadsides.

The SSP made it mandatory for house owners to verify tenants and employees at local police stations before renting property or hiring help. Those ignoring the rule will face legal action.

Addressing the rise in cyber frauds, he said awareness campaigns will continue, and pending cybercrime cases will be expedited.

After the meeting, SSP Prabhat Kumar said: “Due to police alertness, no major crime took place in October. Dhanbad Police will continue to follow a zero-tolerance policy against organized crime.”

He further directed all station in-charges to deal sensitively with complainants and maintain cleanliness in police premises.

The meeting was attended by City SP Ritvik Srivastav, all DSPs, SDPOs, police station in-charges, OP in-charges, and heads of various police branches.
