Jamshedpur, August 23: XLRI – Xavier School of Management conferred diplomas on 189 students at the second convocation of its blended Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) programmes on Saturday, underscoring the institute’s mission of shaping responsible business leaders.
The ceremony, held at the Jamshedpur campus, was attended by Shri Ashwini Kumar Tewari, Managing Director of the State Bank of India, as chief guest, alongside XLRI Director Dr. (Fr.) Sebastian George, S.J., Dean Academics Dr. Sanjay Patro, and other senior faculty members.
Students graduated across four specialised streams: Finance (24), Human Resource Management (36), Business Management (82), and Emerging CHROs (47). Four graduates were awarded gold medals for academic excellence – Sonal Arora (Emerging CHROs), Soumya Sibani Sahoo (Business Management), Shruti Mittra (HRM), and Sai Supriya Bhupathiraju (Finance).

Tewari, addressing the graduates, said success must be defined by “relevance, contribution and character,” reminding them that the convocation marked not just an academic culmination but the beginning of professional and social responsibility.
XLRI Director Fr. George drew on Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations to highlight wisdom, fortitude, justice and temperance as essential virtues of leadership, while Dean Patro welcomed the students into XLRI’s global alumni network, noting the programme’s focus on preparing leaders for a future shaped by artificial intelligence and sustainability.
Dean (Administration & Finance) Fr. Donald D’Silva lauded the graduates for balancing work and study, and reflected on XLRI’s 75-year legacy of ethics and excellence.
Founded in 1949, XLRI is among India’s oldest management institutes. With an expanding alumni base worldwide, the school said it remains committed to developing “managers with a difference” who combine business acumen with social responsibility.
