NEW DELHI, March 27 – India has ranked safer than the United States and several other developed nations in the 2025 Safety Index by Country, published by Serbian crowdsourced data platform Numbeo.
India secured the 66th position with a safety index score of 55.7, ahead of the U.S. (89th, 50.78) and the United Kingdom (87th). Among other major economies, Canada ranked 75th, while Australia placed 82nd.
In a surprise ranking, Pakistan was placed one spot above India at 65th, indicating a higher perceived safety level.
Andorra Tops the List; Venezuela Least Safe
Andorra, a small European nation, was rated the world’s safest country with a score of 84.7, followed by the United Arab Emirates (84.5) and Qatar (84.2). Other nations in the top 10 included Taiwan, Oman, the Isle of Man, Hong Kong, Armenia, Singapore, and Japan.
Conversely, Venezuela ranked as the least safe country, with a score of 19.3, followed by Papua New Guinea (19.7) and Haiti (21.1). Other nations at the bottom included Afghanistan, South Africa, Honduras, Trinidad and Tobago, Syria, Jamaica, and Peru. Numbeo’s biannual survey assesses safety perceptions based on crime levels, concerns over violent crime, property theft, and an overall sense of security among residents and visitors.
