Jamshedpur, November 28: Loyola School celebrated its 75th Annual Sports Day on Friday with a vibrant display of discipline, teamwork and athletics at the CNR Ground, marking a milestone edition of the institution’s long-running sporting tradition.

Chief Guest Kumar Shivashish, City Superintendent of Police and an alumnus of Loyola, was welcomed with a ceremonial Guard of Honour before inaugurating the event. Vice Principal Jayanthi Sheshadri presented him with a sapling, symbolising growth and goodwill, followed by a formal felicitation by the school’s principal.

A synchronised March Past by the four school houses — Cheetahs, Panthers, Leopards and Jaguars — set the tone for the day as the Chief Guest took the salute. The traditional lighting of the torch and the administration of the Oath by the school president marked the official opening of the meet, accompanied by the release of colourful balloons.

Students performed a large-scale drill depicting the journey of Mother Earth, showcasing pristine natural beauty, the impact of human-driven environmental degradation and a final message of ecological responsibility. The performance drew strong applause from parents, teachers and guests.

A series of track and field events kept the atmosphere charged as students competed across categories, cheered on by enthusiastic crowds.

At the closing ceremony, Rev. Dr. Donald D’Silva, S.J., Dean of Finance and Administration at XLRI, served as Guest of Honour. He praised the students for their commitment and said every participant reflected the true spirit of sportsmanship.

The Cheetah House emerged as the Overall Champion, followed by the Leopard House in second place. Jaguar House secured the Best Marching Contingent Trophy, while Panther House was named the Best Disciplined House.

The Sports Flag was lowered to formally conclude the event, after which Principal Fr. Vinod Fernandes delivered the vote of thanks, commending students, staff and volunteers for contributing to a successful celebration of Loyola’s sporting legacy.
