Deoghar, July 17: Power supply will remain suspended for six hours in several parts of Deoghar on Friday as the Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) undertakes extensive maintenance work to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the upcoming Shravani Mela 2026.

According to Assistant Electrical Engineer-cum-Electrical Sub-Divisional Officer Luv Kumar, electricity supply will remain disrupted from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm as maintenance work is carried out on key distribution feeders.

“Maintenance work will be carried out on July 17 to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Shravani Mela 2026,” Kumar said.

He said the 11 KV Town-01 feeder from College Power Sub-Station (PSS), 11 KV Kanwaria feeder, and 11 KV Baijnathpur-02 feeder from PSS Baijnathpur will remain shut during the scheduled maintenance period.

“The 11 KV Town-01, Kanwaria and Baijnathpur-02 feeders will remain shut from 10 am to 4 pm for maintenance work,” Kumar said, adding that “power supply will remain disrupted in the affected areas during the maintenance period.”

The planned outage will affect several localities, including Jatahi Mod, Krishnapuri, Barmasiya, Ambedkar Chowk, Saket Vihar, Indira Nagar, Parmeshwar Dayal Road, Baisi, the Canara Bank area, Professor Colony, Sheetal Malick Road, Shankar Cinema Hall, Deoghar Railway Station, Baghmara Bus Stand, Khijuria, Kalkatiya, Dumma Border and adjoining areas.

JBVNL said multiple repair and maintenance works would be undertaken during the shutdown to strengthen the city’s power infrastructure ahead of the annual pilgrimage season, when Deoghar witnesses a massive influx of devotees visiting the Baba Baidyanath Temple.

“Several repair works will be undertaken during the scheduled shutdown,” the power utility said.

The electricity department has appealed to residents in the affected areas to plan their activities accordingly and cooperate with the maintenance work, which is aimed at ensuring a reliable power supply during one of the state’s largest religious events.
