Patna, Sep 1: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Monday received a boost to its professional outreach in Bihar with several prominent members of the Scheduled Caste community, including a doctor, an engineer and a professor, joining the party.
The new entrants were identified as Dr K.C. Kumar, engineer Alok Chandra Gautam and Prof Jaishankar Prasad, all natives of Vaishali district.
RJD National General Secretary Bhola Yadav formally inducted the three into the party at a membership ceremony held at the RJD state office here.
State General Secretary Ranvijay Sahu welcomed the new members and honoured them by presenting party badges.
The induction comes as the RJD seeks to broaden its organisational base among educated professionals and Scheduled Caste communities in the state.
Several party functionaries attended the programme, including National General Secretary Binu Yadav, state spokesperson Chittaranjan Gagan, and leaders Harendra Kushwaha, Nagendra Yadav, Fayaz Alam Kamal, Madan Sharma, Sanjay Yadav, Pramod Ram and Nirbhay Ambedkar.
The party described the new entrants as prominent and educated members of the Scheduled Caste community, with their induction adding professional representation to its organisational strength in Bihar.
