Ranchi, June 2: Dumri MLA and firebrand youth leader Jairam Mahto’s life is allegedly in danger.
Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM) central secretary Rajdesh Ratan met Governor Santosh Gangwar and demanded Z category security for Jairam Mahto.
Rajdesh Ratan said in the memorandum submitted to the Governor that Jairam Mahto is constantly vocal for the rights of the exploited and the deprived, due to which there is anger among anti-social elements and the threat to his life has increased.
Rajdesh Ratan informed in the letter that he had also written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah two months ago and sought Z category security for Jairam Mahto. But no initiative has been taken so far.
Rajdesh Ratan urged that Jairam Mahto be provided Z category security as soon as possible. He said that the Governor should take suo motu cognizance in this matter and intervene, so that action can be taken before any untoward incident happens.
Usually around 55 security personnel are deployed in Z category security, which includes 10-12 NSG commandos, PSO (Personal Security Officer) and other policemen. This security arrangement is given to those people whose life is in danger and they need extra security.
