Ranchi, September 11: Monsoon has once again intensified in Jharkhand, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in the state’s southern parts.
The IMD has specifically warned East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan of continuous heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph. Residents have been urged to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel.

The weather office said that the monsoon has shifted from Ranchi towards southern Jharkhand, intensifying activity in East Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan and adjoining areas. It said that the next 24 hours will be crucial for these districts, with the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
Authorities have also issued precautionary advisories for the public, urging them to avoid open spaces during lightning, stay away from trees, and drive cautiously as poor visibility is likely. People have been asked to monitor the IMD website and local news channels for timely updates.
In the past 24 hours, several districts, including Ranchi, Dhanbad and Seraikela-Kharsawan, witnessed heavy downpours.
While Dhanbad recorded the highest rainfall at 86 mm, Ranchi remained cloudy throughout the day before thunderstorms lashed the capital city in the evening.
