Ranchi; May 27: A 14-member high level 16th Finance Commission team led by its chairperson Dr Arvind Panagariya will be on a four-day visit to Jharkhand state from Wednesday.

As per the schedule, after reaching Ranchi, the Finance Commission team will visit Patratu Dam. After enjoying the entertainment there, it will visit Birsa Munda Museum the same day. It will enjoy folk dance in Jail Square.

The Commission team will go to Deoghar on May 29. There, the Finance Commission team will hold a meeting with the representatives of the local bodies at the divisional level. It will include the zilla parishad chairperson, one Mukhiya and one Pramukh of Deoghar, Dumka, Jamtara, Sahibganj, Godda and Pakur districts.

On 30th May, the Finance Commission Chairman along with his team will hold a meeting with the representatives of the local bodies, representatives of the Federation of Jharkhand Chambers of Commerce in Ranchi.

Then it will hold a meeting with the state government. It will include the Finance Minister, Chief Secretary and other senior officials. The Commission will also hold a meeting with the political parties of Jharkhand in the afternoon.

On 30th May, the state government will host a dinner for the team of the 16th Finance Commission. Next day, on the morning of May 31, the entire team of the Commission will leave for Delhi.

According to the information, in the meeting with the Finance Commission team, the state government will demand to increase Jharkhand’s share in central taxes from 41 to 50 percent.

Jharkhand government is planning to seek additional assistance from the Center for the development of mining areas, water conservation and irrigation, and compensation for losses due to mining and its transportation. Along with this, the demand for special assistance in the development of infrastructure in Jharkhand will also be reiterated. Jharkhand will also demand special grants to bring Jharkhand in the category of other developed states of the country.
