Ranchi, April 18: The Indian Air Force is set to host a two-day grand air show on April 19 and 20 at the Army Ground in Khojatoli, Namkum, Ranchi. The event, which will feature aerial stunts by the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team, is open to the public with no entry fee.

The air show will run from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on both days, and attendees have been instructed to be seated by 8:30 a.m. School children have been specially invited to witness the display of flying skills.

The Surya Kiran team conducted rehearsals on Thursday, showcasing synchronized and solo stunts with six aircraft. The sound and sight of the jets drew excitement among local residents, many of whom were witnessing such a spectacle for the first time.

To ensure smooth execution and public safety, Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri conducted a review meeting with senior officials. “All arrangements for seating, parking, signage, and sanitation must be completed in time,” Bhajantri said. Police officers and magistrates have been deployed to maintain law and order throughout the event.

Officials present during the preparatory meeting included Sadar SDO Utkarsh Kumar, ADM (Law & Order) Rajeshwar Nath Alok, Rural SP Sumit Kumar Agarwal, Deputy Collector Dr. Sudesh Kumar, DPRO Urvashi Pandey, District Sports Officer Shivendra Singh, and representatives from the Air Force.

In view of the event, prohibitory orders have been imposed within a 200-meter radius of the Army Ground from 6 a.m. on April 18 to 11 p.m. on April 20. The sale of meat and fish has also been temporarily banned in the area to avoid attracting birds that could disrupt the show.

Aircraft parking for the air show has been arranged at Birsa Munda Airport, which can accommodate up to 10 aircraft.
