Ranchi, July 18: The Jharkhand government has set a target to complete road and bridge infrastructure projects worth around ₹1,700 crore within the next six months, aiming to improve connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and accelerate economic growth across the state.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed the Road Construction Department to ensure that all ongoing projects are completed within the stipulated timeline.
The projects include the construction of flyovers, railway overbridges (ROBs), four-lane roads, bridges, and road widening works in several districts, including Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Jamtara, Dhanbad and Dumka.
Among the major projects is the Bahu Bazaar–Patel Chowk flyover in Ranchi, being built at a cost of about ₹213.35 crore.
Once operational, the flyover is expected to ease traffic congestion in one of the city’s busiest corridors and improve connectivity with the Ranchi Ring Road.
In Jamshedpur, construction of a new railway overbridge and approach road on the Sakchi–Mango route is progressing.
The project, estimated at ₹461 crore, is expected to provide uninterrupted movement across the railway line and significantly reduce travel time.
Another key project nearing completion is the four-lane bridge over the Barakar River at Nirsa, connecting Jamtara and Dhanbad.
Built at a cost of ₹263.86 crore, the bridge is expected to strengthen regional connectivity and support industrial and commercial activities in the area.
The government is also upgrading roads along the Jharkhand–West Bengal border, with road widening and reconstruction works worth nearly ₹192.04 crore aimed at improving interstate connectivity.
In the Dumka region, a 30.47-km road is being upgraded into a two-lane road with paved shoulders at an estimated cost of ₹178.22 crore, which is expected to improve access to rural areas and facilitate smoother transportation.
Officials said the completion of these projects will improve road safety, reduce travel time, strengthen logistics and trade, and provide a boost to tourism and economic development across Jharkhand.
The government has instructed the department to closely monitor progress and ensure timely execution of all ongoing infrastructure works.
