Jamshedpur, November 14: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das has written to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, urging the government to resume the operations of the Jallianwala Bagh Express, which connects Tatanagar and Amritsar Junction.
According to Das, the temporary suspension of the train from November 2025 to February 2026 is causing major inconvenience to travellers. He said this period includes the peak wedding and pilgrimage season, when travel demand to North India increases significantly.
The former Chief Minister stressed that the train is crucial for passengers from Jamshedpur, Chakradharpur and nearby areas. It is especially important for the Sikh community, which has a sizeable population in the region.

He added that the suspension has created serious difficulties for devotees and general passengers alike.
Das expressed hope that the Railway Ministry would consider the request sympathetically and take prompt action to restore the service, ensuring smooth connectivity between Jharkhand and Punjab.
Earlier in October, the Sikh community of Jamshedpur had also raised strong objections to the suspension. Led by the Central Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (CGPC), members held a demonstration at Tatanagar Railway Station, demanding immediate restoration of the train.
They had argued that citing fog as a reason for cancelling the service between December 1 to February 27 was unreasonable. The Sikh community members had said that the decision overlooked the needs of frequent travellers and pilgrims who depend on the route.
