Jamshedpur, November 11: DBMS English School celebrated the power of words and expression at its Annual English Recitation, Elocution, Prose and Declamation Contest on Tuesday, providing students from Kindergarten to Class XII a platform to showcase their oratory and interpretative skills.
The event featured performances across a range of themes as participants recited poems, prose passages and speeches with confidence, creativity and clarity. Judges praised the students for their poise and articulation, noting the school’s continued emphasis on nurturing communication skills.
The judging panel comprised Parvinder Bhatia, Jamshedpur Bureau Head of The Pioneer; Siddhartha Sen, a cost accountant and dramatics enthusiast; and Rituparna Chattoraj, Head of the English Department at Jusco School Kadma. The judges offered participants feedback on voice modulation, expression and delivery.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by school chairpersons B. Chandrashekhar and Lalitha Chandrashekhar, Secretary Archana Ramesh, Treasurer Lalitha Seshadri, Principal Rajani Shekhar and Vice-Principal P. K. Sahu, who congratulated the winners and encouraged all students to continue developing their public speaking skills.
In the results, Std. I B emerged winners in the KG II–Std. I category, while Std. II E were runners-up. Std. III D won in the Std. II–III group, followed by Std. II D. Among Std. IV–V students, Sunidhi Chouhan secured first place, Shashwati Das was first runner-up, and Laavya Jawanpuria second runner-up, with Shreenika Chandra receiving a memento of encouragement.
In the Std. VI–VIII category, Amantrita Paul took first place, followed by Raviksha Mishra and Adriza Banerjee. Encouragement mementos went to Aqsa Sarosh, Inaya Malhotra, Aadrik Ganguly and Rishabh. For Std. IX–X, Shreyash Kumar won, with Aditi Kar and Khushi Maheshwari as runners-up, and Avneet Kaur Dogra receiving a memento.
In the senior-most group, Std. XI–XII, Rishit claimed the top position, Abhishek Pathak was first runner-up, and Deonita Mahato second runner-up, while Jiggyasa Chatterjee received a memento of encouragement.
The contest concluded with appreciation for the teachers and coordinators who guided the participants and ensured the smooth conduct of the event. The English Elocution Contest reaffirmed the school’s commitment to fostering articulate, confident and thoughtful communicators.
