New York, April 29 – Amazon has teamed up with Saks Fifth Avenue to launch a dedicated luxury storefront on its platform, as the e-commerce giant intensifies efforts to break into high-end fashion, the companies said on Tuesday.
The new feature, titled Luxury Stores at Amazon, is curated by Saks and offers a selection of women’s and men’s ready-to-wear clothing, shoes, handbags, accessories, and beauty products. It is now available to U.S. shoppers via Amazon’s website and mobile app, with free shipping included.
Participating brands at launch include Dolce & Gabbana, Balmain, Etro, Stella McCartney, Giambattista Valli, Fear of God, and others. Additional labels are expected to join in the coming months.
“This collaboration with Saks furthers Amazon’s commitment to supporting the luxury industry,” said Jenny Freshwater, vice president of Amazon Fashion. “Our customers want more access to high-end brands, and we’re working to meet that demand while maintaining an elevated shopping experience.”
The initiative is supported by a campaign directed by Max Siedentopf and a themed window installation at the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship in New York, inspired by the retailer’s iconic display windows.
Amazon has struggled to win over fashion-conscious consumers despite previous attempts dating back to 2020. Its recent fast fashion launch, Amazon Haul, has not generated the same consumer buzz as rivals like Shein or Temu.
For Saks, the partnership reinforces its digital ambitions and reputation for luxury curation. “We are delighted to collaborate with an incredible group of forward-thinking brand partners for launch,” said Emily Essner, chief commercial officer of Saks Global. “This initiative reflects our commitment to reinventing luxury shopping so that each experience is unmistakably personal.”
The announcement comes months after Saks Global completed its acquisition of the Neiman Marcus Group, including Bergdorf Goodman, in January. Following the deal, the company implemented several rounds of layoffs and shuttered a fulfillment center earlier this month.
In a related move, Hudson’s Bay announced on April 28 that it is closing its final seven Saks Fifth Avenue stores in Canada, including the last remaining location in the country.
A March 2025 report indicated rising anxiety among luxury consumers amid broader economic uncertainty.
