Thripunithura, Feb 06 : A 15-year-old student from Kerala died by suicide on January 15 after allegedly enduring relentless bullying and ragging at his school over his skin colour, according to his family. The teenager jumped from the 26th floor of his apartment building shortly after returning home from school, leaving his family devastated.

The boy’s mother alleged her son was subjected to severe humiliation, including being “forced to lick toilet seats” and having his “head shoved into the toilet while it was flushed.” She claimed that he had been physically assaulted and verbally abused by a group of students both at school and on the school bus.

I am a grieving mother fighting for justice for my son, who was a happy, active, and loving child. On that fateful day, (name withheld) returned home from school at 2:45 PM, and by 3:50 PM, my world came crashing down as he jumped from the 26th floor of our home… ending his life,” the mother wrote in an emotional note shared on social media.

The family filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Hill Palace Police Station in Thripunithura, seeking justice for their son. The mother has also approached the Child Commission to demand an investigation into the alleged harassment. She further accused the Vice Principal of her son’s former school of mistreating him.

The mother revealed that on the boy’s last day, he was forcibly taken to the washroom, made to lick a toilet seat, and had his head pushed into the toilet while it was flushed. She added that her son was frequently targeted over his skin colour.

In their search for answers, the family uncovered shocking messages from his social media accounts, exposing the extent of the abuse he faced. One message detailed how he was made to play a dangerous game: “They made (him) play a game where he spread his fingers out and instead of using a pencil to hit between the gaps of his fingers, they made him use a knife.”

Other messages revealed the cruelty of his peers even after his death. One conversation included a laughing emoji and the words: F*, n****, he actually died.”**

Following the boy’s death, his friends created an Instagram page to demand justice. However, the mother alleged the page was removed under pressure from the school. She also accused the school authorities of attempting to shield their reputation.

When I approached the school authorities with evidence and demanded accountability, they only informed me that the information was forwarded to the police. I strongly believe they are attempting to cover up these incidents to protect the school’s reputation,” the mother stated.

The boy’s death has sparked outrage and renewed calls for stricter measures to prevent ragging and bullying in educational institutions. The case remains under investigation.
