New Delhi, Aug 27: Sons of former India captains Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag — Anvay Dravid and Aaryavir Sehwag — have been named in India Under-19’s one-day squad for the upcoming home series against Australia Under-19.
Lakshya Raichandani will captain the Indian team in the three-match one-day series, with Yashbardhan Chauhan as his deputy. The two will swap roles for the multi-day fixtures, with Yashbardhan taking charge and Raichandani serving as vice-captain.
Wicketkeeper-batter Anvay Dravid, who toured Sri Lanka with the India Under-19 side in July, scored 87 in the second one-day match. He is one of two wicketkeeping options in the one-day squad alongside Rajat Baghel.
Raichandani heads into the Australia series in impressive form after a prolific Sri Lanka tour. He was the leading run-scorer in the two-match four-day series, amassing 307 runs at an average of 153.50.
He scored a career-best 207 in Galle before following it up with an unbeaten 100 in Colombo. Raichandani has also featured in four first-class matches for Uttarakhand, scoring 223 runs, including three half-centuries.
Yashbardhan also made a significant contribution in Sri Lanka, scoring 201 runs and taking six wickets across the two four-day matches.
Among the other notable performers, Sagar Virk scored 134, while Manal Chauhan and Kushagra Ojha made 150 and 111 respectively in the second four-day match. Leg-spinner Rohit Yadav claimed six wickets, while Chigurupati Venkata and Pranav Ragavendra took five wickets apiece.
The three one-day matches against Australia are scheduled for September 18, 21 and 23, while the multi-day fixtures will be played from September 27-30 and October 5-8.
All matches will be held in Rajkot except the second four-day fixture, which is scheduled in Ahmedabad.
