Ranchi, July 11: The Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) is set to introduce an online patient admission system as part of its efforts to modernise hospital services and improve patient care.

The decision was announced following an inspection by RIMS Director Dr. D.K. Sinha, who reviewed the functioning of the OPD registration counters and other key facilities across the hospital campus.

During the inspection, Dr. Sinha found that several OPD registration counters were non-functional due to minor faults in computer hardware.

He directed the concerned officials to carry out immediate repairs and ensure that all registration counters become operational at the earliest to prevent inconvenience to patients.

Reviewing preparations for the online admission system, the Director instructed officials to expedite the remaining work so that the digital platform can be launched soon.

The proposed system is expected to streamline the admission process, reduce waiting time and improve efficiency in patient management.

To enhance patient services, Dr. Sinha also ordered the installation of suggestion boxes at various locations across the hospital campus to encourage feedback from patients and their attendants.

He further directed officials to improve facilities at the patient waiting area near the OPD and ensure regular cleanliness and maintenance throughout the campus.

The Director also instructed hospital authorities to conduct periodic quality checks of the drinking water supplied through the reverse osmosis (RO) system.

In addition, he called for an increase in the availability of wheelchairs and stretchers to facilitate the movement of patients within the hospital.

During his visit to the Trauma Centre, Dr. Sinha reviewed the existing mortuary facility and noted that it currently consists of a single room.

He directed officials to convert the trauma mortuary into a cold storage facility to improve the preservation of bodies and strengthen emergency healthcare infrastructure.

The inspection also included a review of the proposed temporary office for the Biosafety and Infection Control Department, the overall cleanliness of the campus and arrangements for patient movement.

Senior medical, administrative and hospital officials accompanied the Director during the inspection.

The initiative reflects RIMS’ ongoing efforts to modernise healthcare services, improve hospital infrastructure and provide more efficient and patient-friendly medical facilities at Jharkhand’s premier government healthcare institution.
