Ranchi, July 8: The Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office will organise “Chunav Pathshalas” at all polling stations across the state on July 14 to enhance voter awareness and public participation in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The initiative is aimed at ensuring that no genuine voter’s name is deleted from the electoral roll while familiarising voters with the SIR process and addressing their concerns, officials said.
Reviewing the progress of the SIR exercise on Tuesday, Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar directed officials to read out the lists of absent, shifted, deceased, duplicate and refuse-to-sign (non-Indian) voters during the pathshalas to facilitate public scrutiny and transparency.
“For wider participation of people in the SIR, everything will be discussed and all issues will be taken up during the election pathshalas, also known as chunav pathshalas,” Kumar said.
The programmes will be conducted at every polling station in the state, with participation from government officials, senior citizens, representatives of political parties, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLAs).
To assist voters, the Election Commission has enabled the ‘Book A Call’ feature on the ECINET app, allowing electors to directly contact their BLO for electoral roll-related assistance.
“For assistance related to electoral roll mapping, voters can contact their BLO through the ‘Book A Call’ feature on the ECINET app,” Kumar said.
He added that voters facing difficulties in filling SIR forms or having doubts or complaints can seek assistance by calling the toll-free helpline 1950. Complaints can also be lodged through district election offices or the National Voters Service Portal (NVSP).
As part of the outreach drive, BLOs have pasted SIR stickers on houses in their respective polling areas, displaying their names and mobile numbers to facilitate easy contact. The ECINET app also allows voters to retrieve BLO contact details using their voter identity card number.
Kumar said all documents related to the SIR exercise would be preserved as permanent records. He also informed that a bilingual animated video explaining the SIR forms has been released to help voters understand the revision process more effectively.
