Denmark, Feb 19: Online gaming operator Stake has secured a five-year licence to operate in Denmark, marking its entry into one of Europe’s most established and tightly regulated gambling markets and its first expansion into the Nordic region.
The licence enables Stake to offer online casino games and sports betting through its localized platform, Stake.dk. The company said it plans to deploy its full global product suite in Denmark while tailoring features to suit local player preferences.
Denmark is regarded as a mature, competitive and high-value gaming market with robust regulatory oversight, making it a strategic addition to Stake’s growing presence in regulated jurisdictions.
As part of the expansion, Stake Denmark will establish a physical base in the country. From March 1, 2026, the company will operate from new headquarters at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, the home ground of FC Copenhagen and Denmark’s national football venue.
Peter Eugen Clausen, Managing Director of Stake Denmark, said the competitive nature of the market was a key attraction for the company.
“Denmark has one of the most well-regulated and competitive gaming markets in Europe, and that’s exactly what makes it so exciting. With Stake’s arrival, Danish players can expect a fresh, world-class experience backed by global scale and strong local focus,” he said.
Clausen added that the company intends to raise the bar “in terms of product, transparency, and entertainment,” and said increased competition from new entrants would contribute positively to the market’s development.
The Denmark launch also marks a milestone for Easygo, the technology provider behind Stake’s platform.
“Denmark marks our entry into the Nordics and represents a clear win in one of Europe’s most mature and high-value markets. With each new market, our momentum continues to build as we deliver on our global expansion strategy,” said Brais Pena, Chief Strategy Officer at Easygo.
Founded in 2017, Stake has expanded rapidly across multiple international markets and is increasingly focusing on regulated environments. The company said it will introduce responsible gambling tools in Denmark to help users monitor their activity and maintain control over their gaming behaviour.
