New York, July 15: Climate technology company Copeland has announced new science-based emissions reduction targets while expanding its portfolio of energy-efficient cooling technologies designed for data centres and other critical infrastructure.

The company said it aims to reduce its absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 55 percent by fiscal year 2033, using earlier operational levels as the baseline. It also plans to lower Scope 3 emissions by 32.5 percent over the same period.

The targets have been validated under internationally recognised science-based climate standards.Copeland reported significant progress during the latest fiscal year, citing a notable decline in direct operational emissions alongside initial reductions across its value chain.

The company attributed the improvement to energy efficiency measures, increased use of lower-emission refrigerants, and investments in renewable energy at several facilities.

The company, which operates in more than 40 countries and employs over 18,000 people, continues to develop technologies for heating, cooling and refrigeration with a focus on reducing environmental impact.

Its product portfolio includes compressors, heat pumps, power electronics, smart controls and advanced thermal management systems.

With global demand for artificial intelligence and cloud computing driving rapid data centre expansion, Copeland said it is investing in next-generation cooling systems that improve energy efficiency while maintaining reliable operations.

Industry estimates suggest cooling systems account for a substantial share of electricity consumption in modern data centres, making efficiency improvements a key area for reducing operating costs and carbon emissions.

In addition to cooling technologies, the company is developing solutions for power management, fluid control and waste heat recovery to help data centres optimise energy use.

It also works with electric utilities on demand management programmes aimed at improving grid stability during periods of high electricity demand.

Copeland said its connected energy network supports thousands of megawatts of managed capacity across residential and commercial applications, enabling greater flexibility in electricity consumption while supporting broader decarbonisation efforts.

Beyond data centres, the company continues to supply technologies for cold chain logistics that help preserve food and medical products.

It said ongoing investments in sustainable engineering, operational efficiency and collaboration with customers remain central to its long-term environmental strategy.

Company executives said future investments will continue to focus on innovation, transparency and climate-focused technologies that support customers in reducing energy consumption and lowering emissions across multiple industries.
