Bengaluru, Jan 23 : Microsoft has begun rolling out a new version of Windows 11, Preview Build 26120.2992 (KB5050083), introducing advanced Copilot+ AI features, including the much-anticipated AI-powered Windows Search.
Currently available for Snapdragon X Plus/Elite-powered Copilot+ branded PCs, the update will soon extend to Intel and AMD-powered Copilot+ systems, Microsoft announced.
The AI-powered Windows Search allows users to locate photos, documents, and settings using simple and contextual text prompts. It leverages both semantic and traditional indexing to enable efficient searches directly from the taskbar or File Explorer.
Unlike traditional search features, the new tool enables users to locate files based on specific details such as the content of an image or text in a document, rather than relying solely on file names. However, the functionality is limited to locally stored files and does not extend to cloud storage services like OneDrive.
Another feature introduced in this update, dubbed “Refine,” mirrors the capabilities of Apple Intelligence’s writing tools. It allows users to rewrite or proofread selected text blocks across applications by pressing Win + Click.
Additionally, the update includes minor adjustments to File Explorer, Magnifier, and Task Manager, enhancing overall user experience.
This release marks a significant step in Microsoft’s efforts to integrate AI-powered features into its flagship operating system, delivering new tools to streamline productivity and simplify tasks for its users.
