Bengaluru, Mar 28: A 32-year-old woman’s body was found stuffed in a trolley bag inside a house in Southeast Bengaluru on Thursday, police said. Her husband was detained in Mumbai for allegedly killing her.
Maharashtra Police detained Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar for allegedly killing his wife, Gouri Anil Sambrekar. Bengaluru police said Khedekar called Maharashtra Police and the house owner, informing them about his wife’s body in the flat.
Police said Khedekar had left Bengaluru on March 25 and made the call two days later. The house owner alerted the police control room at around 5:30 pm, and a team was dispatched to the house in Doddakammanahalli village under Hulimavu police limits.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Sarah Fathima said the body was found in the washroom inside a trolley bag.
Police initially suspected suicide but later found indications of homicide. The motive remains unknown.
The couple had been married for two years and moved into the rented house’s third floor in February. Khedekar worked as a project manager in a private firm, while Sambrekar was a homemaker looking for a job.
Forensic teams analyzed the crime scene, collected prints and other evidence, and sent the body for an autopsy. The victim’s parents have been informed, police said.
