Jamshedpur, September 10 Class XII students of Loyola School, Jamshedpur, on Saturday took part in a rural outreach initiative aimed at promoting compassion, community ties and learning beyond the classroom.

The students visited five institutions – Amarjyoti School in Pardih, St. Paul in Pandabir, St. Xavier’s in Basahatu, St. Thomas High School in Gandidungri and Loyola School in Chaira – where they donated essential goods and sports items.

Activities included friendly football matches, poem recitations, drawing competitions and group games. Organisers said the matches, in particular, fostered sportsmanship, energy and unity across communities.

Teachers said the programme helped students understand values such as resilience, gratitude and the strength of community life. “It was the spirit of sharing that touched everyone’s hearts,” one faculty member said. The school described the initiative as a reflection on rural life, where contentment lies not in abundance but in gratitude and togetherness.
