Jamshedpur, September 5: Law and order in the steel city is under serious question after two daring robberies within just 24 hours. On Thursday afternoon, a businessman was robbed of ₹30 lakh near Bistupur Gurudwara—just a day after jewellery worth ₹10 lakh was looted from a shop in Sonari.
The businessman Saket Aggarwal, a Hindustan Lever agency operator, was on his way to deposit the cash in a bank when six miscreants, riding a white Innova and a scooty, blocked his way and looted the entire cash. They threw chilli powder in Saket’s eyes, snatched the bag, and escaped after firing a round in the air to scare people.

The incident happened exactly 12:58 pm on Thursday. Shockingly, just a day earlier at the same time, robbers had looted jewellery worth ₹10 lakh from Vardhman Jewellers in Sonari.
The back-to-back incidents have created panic among the business community. Many traders and Chamber of Commerce leaders rushed to the spot, openly questioning the police’s failure.
Police suspect the Bistupur robbery was well planned. The number plate of the Innova was removed, and the criminals seemed to have prior information about Saket’s movements. CCTV footage shows the attackers’ route, and police are probing whether an insider leaked details.
The two incidents happening at the exact same time has sparked discussions among the public is it was just a coincidence or a bigger conspiracy.
Meanwhile, Jamshedpur City SP Kumar Shivashish has assured that the culprits will be arrested soon. However, fear has gripped Jamshedpur’s traders, who believe that the criminals have “lost all fear of police.”
Commenting on the two incidents, Jamshedpur (West) MLA Saryu Roy said: “Crime control is not on the priority list of the police.”
