Ranchi, August 22: Jharkhand witnessed two tragic road accidents on Thursday, claiming three lives in separate incidents in Latehar and Dhanbad districts.
Two bikers lost their life in the first accident on National Highway-39 near Devbar turn under Manika police station area of Latehar. The two victims were travelling on a Bullet motorcycle when their vehicle collided head-on with a passenger bus coming from the opposite direction. The impact of the collision was so severe that the motorcycle was dragged several feet along with the bus. Both riders sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot.
The victims have not yet been formally identified. However, police recovered a driving license from one of the deceased, which bears the name of Abdul Haseem Sarwar, reportedly a resident of Noida in Uttar Pradesh. Manika police station in-charge Shashi Kumar reached the spot soon after the incident and said efforts are on to confirm the identity of both the victims.
The bus involved in the accident has been seized and further investigation is underway.

In another road mishap reported from Dhanbad district the same morning, 58-year-old Tej Narayan Gupta, a resident of Tapovan Colony under Saraidhela police station area, lost his life while out for a morning walk.
Gupta was walking along the Govindpur–Baliapur road when he was hit by a 12-wheeled truck. Local people rushed him to the hospital immediately after the accident, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police acted swiftly, seizing the truck and arresting the driver, identified as Harendra Yadav, a resident of Sindri Rodabandh. Officials said the case is being investigated, and the driver will be produced before the court.
Both incidents have sparked concern among residents over increasing cases of road mishaps in the state. Locals have demanded stricter traffic regulation, better monitoring of heavy vehicles, and awareness drives to ensure road safety.
