Jharkhand to get good rainfall with monsoon onset in June first week

Ranchi, May 25: There is a possibility of good rainfall during pre-monsoon in the entire state including the capital Ranchi. The Meteorological Center Ranchi issued an alert and said that there is a possibility of rainfall in most parts of the state till May 30. Yellow alert is also being issued continuously regarding this.

There is a possibility of strong winds blowing at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour along with thunder and lightning at some places. Amidst these possibilities, it was told that the southwest monsoon has hit Kerala on May 24, while the normal date of arrival of the monsoon is June 1. Thus, the southwest monsoon has hit Kerala eight days before the normal date.

As per Met experts of Ranchi this is the earliest date of arrival of monsoon in Kerala after the year 2009, when the monsoon hit Kerala on May 23, 2009.

Considering the starting dates from 1975, the earliest arrival of monsoon in Kerala was in 1990 (19 May, 1990), which was 13 days before the normal starting date. In such a situation, it is being speculated that monsoon will enter Jharkhand before time.

Met officials at Ranchi said monsoon can knock on in Jharkhand from 3 to 5 June. They forecasted a good monsoon in Jharkhand. At the same time, agricultural scientists say that if the monsoon enters before time and there is good rainfall, then farming will also get a boost.

More than 80 percent of farming in Jharkhand is dependent on monsoon. If there is no good rainfall during the monsoon, then a situation of drinking water crisis also arises in many areas.

The report released by Meteorological Centre Ranchi has indicated good rainfall this year. The rainfall data of the last 10 years in the state makes it clear that there was no normal rainfall in any year during this period. Every year less than normal rainfall was recorded.

However, the normal rainfall figure of 2013 was reduced after an interval of five, but despite that, there was no success in reaching the normal rainfall figure. According to the data, the normal rainfall was estimated to be 1091.9 mm in the year 2013, but only 844.9 mm rainfall occurred.

930.3 mm rainfall was recorded in the year 2014, 951.9 in 2015, 1101.6 in 2016 and 988.1 mm in 2017. After which the Meteorological Department reduced the estimate of normal rainfall in the state to 1055.7 mm, but in the year 2018, 785 mm of rainfall occurred. After this, 858.9 in the year 2019, 902.4 in 2020, 1041.5 mm rainfall was recorded in 2021.

After five years, the estimate of normal rainfall in the state was once again reduced to 1022.9 mm, but in the year 2022, only 817.6 mm of rainfall occurred.

In the year 2023, there was 27 percent less rainfall than normal. This year, the state received 751.6 mm rainfall instead of 1022.9 mm normal rainfall. At the same time, the monsoon was normal in the year 2024. From June 1 to September 30, the state received 1011.6 mm rainfall. This was only one percent less than the normal rainfall during the monsoon.

Meteorologist Abhishek Anand said that there is a strong possibility of light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms at many places in the state during the next 24 hours, a yellow alert has been issued regarding this.

He said that there is a possibility of heavy rainfall at many places on May 25. There is a possibility of strong winds blowing at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour and lightning along with thunderstorms at some places, a yellow alert has been issued regarding this. He said that this situation will remain in these districts till May 30.

Meteorologist Abhishek Anand said that there is a strong possibility of light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms at many places in the state on May 25. Whereas there is no possibility of major change in the maximum temperature for the next five days i.e. 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29 May.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall in most parts of the state from 25 to 30 May.
