Birsa Munda source of inspiration: LS speaker

Ranchi, May 25: Lok Sabha speaker and Rajasthan MP Om Birla on a two-day visit to Jharkhand has described tribal icon Birsa Munda as a source of continuous inspiration.

On Sunday morning after arriving in Ranchi, Om Birla first reached Birsa Chowk, where he paid tribute to the statue of Lord Birsa Munda. After this, Om Birla directly reached the Birsa Munda Museum located at Jail More, where he got to know the life of Lord Birsa Munda in depth.

Birsa Munda who is revered as Bhagwan Birsa Munda in Jharkhand death anniversary falls on June 9 and had died while being in prison at the Birsa Munda Jail which has been converted into a museum.

Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla described his first visit to Jharkhand as quite amazing. He praised the Birsa Munda Museum and said that it reflects the sacrifice of Lord Birsa for the nation. Apart from this, he described the life of Lord Birsa as a source of continuous inspiration and Lord Birsa as the pioneer of Ulgulan. In the museum, he closely learned the history related to Lord Birsa.

“I salute the land of Birsa Munda. This is the land of valour, tribal culture, values and traditions. Jharkhand is progressing on the path of modern development while preserving the culture of its tribal communities. This land is an inspiration for all of us,” Birla told reporters at the airport.

Earlier in the day while addressing traders and members of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SCCI) at Jamshedpur stressed at the sea of opportunities in the country despite the prevailing competitive world scenario.

Significantly, SCCI had invited Om Birla to grace its platinum jubilee celebration.

He said the country, with its intellectual prowess and innovative ideas, technology and young and skilled human resources, has enough potential to lead the world.

Big industries of the world were looking at India, Birla said.

The Union government has been making efforts to suitably bring in reforms and implement industry-friendly policies, he said.

Birla is scheduled to return to New Delhi on Monday.
