Ranchi, Feb 20: In a pre-Holi relief measure, the government has announced that eligible women beneficiaries under the Maiya Samman scheme will receive a ₹5,000 installment, with payments set to begin in phases following completion of a statewide verification drive.

Officials said the beneficiary list is currently being revised to weed out ineligible recipients and include deserving women who were previously left out. The move aims to streamline the scheme and ensure that financial assistance reaches only genuine beneficiaries.

“The beneficiary list is being revised to remove ineligible women and ensure that only eligible beneficiaries receive the scheme benefits,” the Minister said, underscoring the government’s focus on transparency and accountability.

Under the revised guidelines, women below 18 years or above 60 years of age will be removed from the scheme. Applicants found to have submitted false information or forged documents will also face permanent exclusion. Additionally, economically self-sufficient women, those holding government jobs or pensions, families with members employed in the Central or State Government, and beneficiaries without Aadhaar-linked bank accounts will be disqualified.

Officials clarified that women meeting any of the disqualification criteria — including age limits, false documentation, government employment, or absence of Aadhaar-linked bank accounts — will be permanently struck off the list.

The first phase of verification is being carried out in 12 districts, including Ranchi, Dhanbad, Deoghar, Bokaro, Gumla, Lohardaga, Jamshedpur, Jamtara, Simdega, Chatra, Pakur and Garhwa.

Beneficiaries in these districts are expected to receive the installment in the initial stage, while payments in the remaining districts will follow upon completion of verification.

The phased rollout, officials said, is designed to ensure accuracy in beneficiary identification while delivering timely financial support ahead of the festive season.
