DGP initiates confidence building measures among PSU heads

Ranchi, May 8: Jharkhand DGP Anurag Gupta held an important review meeting with the heads of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) operating in the state and their representatives over threats posed by ultras, organised criminal gangs and law and order problem.

The meeting was held at Jharkhand Police Headquarters, Ranchi on Thursday. The main objective of the meeting was to discuss in detail the law and order situation in the state, crime related matters and other problems related to public sector undertakings.

During this, the DGP took stock of the current law and order situation in the operational areas of public sector undertakings located in all the districts of the state and evaluated important security related aspects.

Some of the key discussion points of the meeting are Left Wing Extremism. The DGP discussed the left wing extremist activities active around public sector undertakings and their potential threats.

  • Organized criminal gangs: Organized crime syndicates active in the state and their impact on public sector undertakings were reviewed.
  • Extortion: Cases related to extortion or forced recovery from PSUs were considered.
  • Threatening calls: Progress of registered cases related to threatening calls received by PSU officers and employees was discussed.

The DGP directed the Superintendents of Police (SPs) of all districts to compulsorily register FIRs under the relevant sections in cases of Left Wing Extremism, organised crime, extortion, threatening calls, illegal dharna-demonstration and other sensitive matters.

He also made it clear that such cases should not be taken lightly under any circumstances and prompt legal action should be ensured.

DGP Gupta directed all the station in-charges to hold a meeting at least once every month with the personnel associated with the PSUs located in their jurisdiction. The purpose of these meetings is to ensure mutual coordination and effective exchange of information.

The DGP also directed that the station in-charges should maintain regular contact with the concerned personnel as per the need and get their full cooperation in any investigation. Along with this, the DGP laid special emphasis on strengthening the intelligence system. He instructed that if there is any indication of a potential threat or sensitive information, it should be immediately informed to the police headquarters, so that necessary preventive measures can be taken in time.
