Ranchi, June 4: Welfare Bill of Gig (temporary) Workers, appointment of teachers in schools and engineering colleges, and establishment of Aadhar registration centres in rural parts were among the key decisions taken by the Hemant Soren led cabinet on Wednesday.
A total of 13 important proposals related to urban planning, road development, water supply, health, education and the mining sector of Jharkhand were approved. While the government gave the green signal to the welfare bill for gig workers in Jharkhand, important policy decisions were also taken for the establishment of Aadhaar centers.
The state government approved the enactment of ‘The Jharkhand Platform Based Gig Workers (Registration and Welfare) Bill, 2025’. This bill will provide security and social benefits to thousands of workers working on online platforms in Jharkhand.
Relaxing the provisions of Jharkhand finance rules, permission has been given to enter into an agreement between common services centers (Pragya Kendras) -SPV and the state government to set up Aadhaar Registration Centers in Panchayat Bhawan, Ward Offices and urban local bodies premises which will save masses from running helter skelter for Aadhar registration.
Approval was given for creation of posts of teachers and non-teaching staff in accordance with the standards of AICTE in the newly constructed Government Engineering Colleges at Bokaro and Godda. This will promote quality technical education in these institutions.
Despite being found irregular in the CBI investigation, in the light of the orders of the courts, it has been decided to reinstate the illegal/irregular teachers of Government Girls Middle Schools in service and approve the estimated benefits and pension.
Approval was given for formation of ‘Jharkhand Municipality Contractors Registration (Amendment) Rules, 2025’. Under this rule, now the registration and regulation of contractors working in urban areas will be done in a more transparent and organized manner, which will speed up urban development projects.
Administrative approval of Rs 40.39 crore was given for the widening, strengthening and reconstruction work of a total of 6.630 km road from Pakur-Barharwa main road to Pali Bagan hill West Bengal border in Pakur district. This project also includes land acquisition, shifting of electricity and water supply line, rehabilitation and plantation.
Approval has been given for amendment with retrospective effect in the water rate notification applicable in the state from April 1, 2011. This amendment will make the provisions related to water use and tax determination more practical and effective.
Approval was given to nominate secretary, mines and geology Department as ex officio chairman and director, mines as ex officio Managing Director in Jharkhand State Mineral Development Corporation Limited.
Administrative approval was given on the revised estimate of Rs 59.71 crore for strengthening and restructuring of urban water supply scheme in Garhwa Municipal Council area. This scheme is considered to be a big step towards overcoming the drinking water crisis in urban areas.
The cabinet approved the reorganization of the sanctioned posts of the Information and Public Relations Department. This decision will increase the efficiency of the department. At the same time, approval was given to the transfer of posts of doctors with the aim of strengthening medical facilities in the state’s prisons. This will enable prisoners to get timely health services.
