Ranchi, India, April 9: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar will embark on a three-day visit to Jharkhand starting April 11 to interact with officials involved in the successful conduct of the 2024 Lok Sabha and state assembly elections.
The CEC will travel through Ramgarh and Ranchi districts during the visit, according to Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar.
“The CEC will visit Jharkhand for three days, from April 11 to 13. During this period, he will tour various areas in Ramgarh and Ranchi districts,” Kumar said.
On April 12, Gyanesh Kumar is scheduled to meet with volunteers in Ramgarh who were engaged in managing Lok Sabha and assembly elections in the state last year. The interactions aim to gather on-ground perspectives about operational challenges and successes.
“He (CEC) will learn about the volunteers’ experiences during the elections,” Kumar said.
The following day, April 13, the CEC will meet Booth-Level Officers (BLOs) at Dasham Falls near Ranchi. Discussions are expected to focus on their experiences in remote regions, their use of house-to-house surveys, implementation of the BLO mobile application, and strategies for polling time management.
“The CEC will also explore the BLOs’ experiences with house-to-house surveys, the BLO app, polling time management, and other related matters during the elections,” Kumar added.
Jharkhand’s Lok Sabha elections in 2024 were conducted in four phases starting May 13, with results announced on June 4. The state assembly elections followed in two phases on November 13 and 20, with the count declared on November 23. The visit comes as part of the Election Commission’s continued efforts to improve transparency, efficiency, and voter outreach in the electoral process across India.
