Itanagar, Dec 30: In a significant step towards border area development and community welfare, the Indian Army has constructed a double-storey homestay at the remote border village of Taksing in Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Subansiri district.
The initiative aims to promote sustainable livelihoods and strengthen border tourism in the strategically important region.
The project was undertaken under Operation Sadbhavna and dedicated to the local community as part of the Vibrant Village Programme, a defence spokesperson, Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, said in a statement on Monday.
Executed by the Spearhead Division of the Spear Corps, the initiative is intended to enhance tourism infrastructure while providing a steady source of income for local residents.
The homestay is expected to encourage visitor inflow, generate employment opportunities, and stimulate economic activity in the otherwise remote border area.
Local villagers have welcomed the project, expressing appreciation for the Indian Army’s continued support in inclusive development and civil-military cooperation in frontier regions.
The initiative reflects the spirit of “Seema Suraksha ke Saath Sabka Vikas & Sabka Vishwas”, underscoring the Army’s commitment not only to safeguarding national borders but also to contributing meaningfully to the socio-economic development of border communities.
