Ranchi, September 17: Ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja festival, a high-level security review meeting has been held at Jharkhand Police Headquarters, led by DGP Anurag Gupta.
Senior officers including ADG Priya Dubey, IG Prabhat Kumar, Dr. Michaelraj S., DIG S. Karthik, Shailendra Prasad, and others took part, along with all zonal IGs, range DIGs, SSPs, and SPs through video conference on Tuesday.
The DGP directed officials to stay on high alert to ensure peace and prevent any attempt to disturb communal harmony during the festive season. Control rooms will function round-the-clock in all districts, with police officers and personnel deployed at all times.
All puja pandals, licensed or unlicensed, will be verified and sensitive ones will be identified. Moreover, extra police forces and magistrates will be stationed at such places.

The DGP ordered that pandals must have proper lighting, CCTV cameras, and public address systems. Fire safety measures, medical facilities, and emergency helpline numbers should also be made available in every district.
The police chief made it clear that forced collection of donations in the name of puja will not be allowed. Vigil will be maintained on illegal slaughterhouses and animal traders, with strict legal action against violators. Officers have also been told to strengthen traffic and parking arrangements to prevent crimes like snatching in crowded areas.
The DGP further said the help of “Police Mitra” (volunteers) will be taken if required to manage emergencies and unexpected situations.
