Ranchi, Aug. 31: Ranchi is set to get Jharkhand’s first 10-lane smart road under a ₹177 crore infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity between key institutional areas and the city’s Ring Road.The proposed corridor will run from Vivekananda School in Dhurva to the Ring Road through Nayasarai.
The route is expected to connect major locations, including the Jharkhand High Court, the Vidhan Sabha and a CRPF camp.The construction contract for the project has been awarded to West Bengal-based firm Ram Chandra Pal, while preliminary survey work has begun under the supervision of the State Highway Authority of Jharkhand.
The main section of the corridor is planned as a six-lane carriageway, with two-lane service roads on either side. Together, the main carriageway and service lanes will create a 10-lane road configuration along the proposed stretch.The full-width corridor will extend up to Nayasarai.
After crossing the railway line, the route will narrow and continue as a two-lane road towards the Ring Road, according to the project plan.The tender for the project was issued about two months before the construction contract was finalised.
The proposed road is expected to improve access to important government and judicial institutions while strengthening connectivity between the Dhurva area and the Ring Road.
The project is also expected to support smoother traffic movement in developing parts of Ranchi as the city continues to expand its urban infrastructure.
