Ranchi, Aug 21: The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on August 24 a petition seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) Preliminary Examination.
The petition also seeks directions for conducting a fresh preliminary examination under safeguards and procedures to be determined by the apex court.The matter is linked to the controversy surrounding the 11th to 13th JPSC examinations and the Jharkhand government’s recent decision to cancel a number of recruitment examinations following protests over alleged irregularities.
The petitioner has sought examination-related material, including scanned records, evaluation data, result-generation information and other connected documents, to facilitate scrutiny of the recruitment process.The Jharkhand High Court on August 20 stayed the state government’s order concerning the cancellation of appointments of employees recruited through the 11th to 13th JPSC examinations.
The High Court passed the order while hearing petitions filed by newly appointed officers challenging the government’s decision.The state government had on August 18 issued a notification cancelling 22 recruitment examinations, with the 11th to 13th JPSC examinations among those covered by the order.The cancellations came amid sustained protests and allegations of irregularities in the state’s recruitment examinations.
The Supreme Court’s August 24 hearing is expected to bring further clarity on the demand for an independent investigation into the JPSC Preliminary Examination and the proposed fresh examination.The apex court’s decision will also be closely watched by candidates and officers affected by the ongoing dispute over the recruitment process.
