Ranchi, July 14: Jharkhand Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore has written to the Director General of Police (DGP), calling for the implementation of modern security standards for police personnel and greater transparency in the deployment of police resources.

The minister emphasized that ensuring the safety of police officers is essential for maintaining effective law enforcement and public security.

In the letter, the Finance Minister stated that police personnel regularly face high-risk situations while maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and protecting citizens.

He urged the police headquarters to strengthen security arrangements by providing modern protective equipment and adopting updated safety protocols in line with current policing requirements.

The minister observed that if police personnel continue to feel unsafe despite the availability of funds for police modernization, it indicates shortcomings in the existing security framework.

He requested the DGP to review the current system and implement necessary reforms to improve the safety and efficiency of the force.

Referring to his earlier communication dated April 21, 2026, the minister noted that he had sought clarification regarding the demand for additional police vehicles but had not yet received a satisfactory response.

He questioned whether the demand was based on actual operational requirements and called for a detailed assessment of the existing fleet before approving further expenditure.

The letter also highlighted concerns over the deployment of Police Response Vehicles (PRVs) and patrolling vehicles, with the minister seeking details on their utilization, staffing, and operational effectiveness.

He stressed that government resources should be used efficiently and that all expenditure must be justified.

Additionally, the Finance Minister called for greater transparency regarding the number of security vehicles, their deployment, and other police resources.

He said any allegations of misuse of official vehicles should be examined thoroughly and appropriate action taken if irregularities are found.

The letter reflects the state government’s focus on balancing police welfare with financial accountability.

By advocating improved security measures while demanding responsible use of public funds, the Finance Minister has underlined the need for both efficient policing and transparent governance.
