Ranchi, July 9: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has proposed a comprehensive redevelopment of the city’s old markets and commercial areas, with plans to build modern shopping complexes, hotels and multi-level parking facilities to improve urban infrastructure and boost commercial activity.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting chaired by Municipal Commissioner Sushant Gaurav, where the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) presented detailed redevelopment plans for Daily Market, New Market and the Khadgarha Bus Stand area.
According to the proposal, the Daily Market will be redeveloped into a modern commercial complex spread across nearly 1.17 acres, featuring retail spaces, a hotel and a multi-level parking facility to ease congestion and improve parking availability.
The plan also includes the redevelopment of New Market, where old commercial establishments will be replaced with a modern shopping complex equipped with upgraded infrastructure and improved facilities for traders and customers.
At the Khadgarha Bus Stand, the proposal envisages the removal of old Ranchi Municipal Corporation-owned shops to make way for a new commercial complex and a hotel, aimed at enhancing the area’s commercial potential.
Municipal Commissioner Sushant Gaurav said the city should focus not only on developing new infrastructure but also on modernising its existing markets and commercial centres.
He said the redevelopment projects are expected to provide better business opportunities, improve civic amenities and strengthen urban infrastructure.
Officials said the projects would help streamline commercial activities, improve traffic management and parking facilities, and provide a more organised and convenient environment for traders and visitors.
The proposals will undergo detailed technical evaluation and consultations with stakeholders before receiving final approval. The civic body said the redevelopment plans will be finalised after reviewing all technical and planning aspects to ensure sustainable urban development.
